Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, fresh DM the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of heroes, and a exciting storyline including celestial beings, fiends, and dark forces increasing in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Key plot points for the third episode of this adventure lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
The latest chapter ended with a huge suspense moment and revealed the premier party of adventurers who will branch out from the main group to begin their independent quest, distinct from the additional parties.
This warrior group includes Teor (brought to life by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
Considering 13 cast members, it was evident from the beginning that keeping everyone at a single group would be impossible.
This explains, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, connecting the personal journeys before splitting into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Strategists, and Seekers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
As described by the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for players who enjoy a classically intense fight-heavy story mode where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander might appear unsuited, but the developments of the latest installment make it clear why these five characters are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
First, the team understands precisely where to proceed after a violent initial meeting with the antagonists.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose death kicked off the narrative’s action—exploited The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, breaking into the hidden lair, striking the rogue, and taking all the powerful objects to sell off.
The antagonist then paid off his debts and fled to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, above the urban center, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each character has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the close ally and trusted friend, desires retribution.
- Kattigan is familiar with the northern area and cautions that it is a nasty place.
- The strong character and The healer, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to execute the target and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their status as prominent individuals in the powerful family could assist the group access locations they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, Teor pledged a eternal obligation to The savior for his salvation and will now follow him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the rulers that rule the city for a range of causes, making staying in the city too risky:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and Wicander turned against the influential house and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the family.
This means them few options but to travel to the remote area in quest for the traitor.
What’s Next?
From the recent installment’s Cooldown, we find out that the warrior group will be absent the following episode, leaving the other eight players to assemble the Explorers and Planners tables.
Fans can anticipate finding out which players will be where in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on next week.
